I’m sitting in the tear down of Microsoft Ignite 2019, waiting for my pallet and boxes and thought – what better time than now to reflect on my experience and write a blog?
Microsoft Ignite represents a big step in Sharp's relationship with Microsoft. This is the first time we have attended the show and all I can say is…. Wow!!
Well, not true… I can put more words behind that – what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t?!
This year I had the chance to lead the planning for both Microsoft Inspire and Ignite for Sharp. From set up to tear down, staffing, logistics and all of the communications before during and after, it is a mountain of work that truly takes a strong team to execute for a great impact. I’m proud of what our team has done so far. As a rookie (yes, I’m still calling myself that), I think the ability to be open, aware and soliciting of feedback is key. By doing that, we were able to recognize areas of opportunity and implement change quickly… sometimes within minutes or hours to improve our performance. Examples of that would be adding a theater and microphone/audio to enhance our presentations at Inspire and changing our booth layout and signage at Ignite and coming to the realization that sticker envy is real, and we needed some stat (We had some made for the last day).
Our team was inspired by the creativity we saw here at Ignite – we saw light saber giveaways, prize patrols, claw machines full of unicorns, prize wheels, interactive experiences and the coolest most unique stickers you have ever seen. The vibe was energetic, laid back and cool. I was proud to be in this mob of nearly 30k people, all excited about the future of technology.
Microsoft Teams had many new exciting announcements! From private channels, to a new tasks app, to real time captioning in meetings – this platform is truly is changing the way we work. I also got a sneak peek at Workplace Intelligence and MyAnalytics which is a new platform that provides insights on how you work based on your activity within MS365– how cool would it be if we could combine those insights with the real-time smart office analytics Sharp is bringing with Synnapx Workspaces! The future is very bright my friends – lots of things I thought would be “future” are happening right now. Full speed ahead! AI and IoT are major growth segments, with exciting innovations happening every day, and I’m so excited to be a part of that.
The people we met here were amazing – from Network Engineers at hospitals to Systems Adminstrators of major fortune 100 corporations, all of our interactions were genuine, engaging and thought provoking. I have confidence that Sharp will be a major player in the Smart office of the future – our technology will improve people’s everyday lives, and that is powerful. The people that are at Microsoft Ignite are excited to be here. Unlike other shows, where the last day is empty, we saw four days of a steady flow of people. Day 1 was almost overload -- there was a wall of people!
Our booth wasn’t the biggest, but I think the staff and the product we were representing shone and we really maximized our space. I’m looking forward to taking to heart everything I’ve learned at this show. From show execution, to relationships, to new business ideas moving forward – this event has ignited our go to market for the Windows collaboration display from Sharp and Synnapx Workspaces software. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better way to launch this product. Stay tuned for exciting announcements ahead!
