One could argue that Sharp Corporation invented the interactive display with its first AQUOS commercial display some 21 years ago. Now, Sharp NEC Display has an entire line of AQUOS displays aimed at collaboration, with a plethora of options thanks to either an OPS or an SDM slot. Gary was joined by Sharp NEC’s George Borden, solution sales architect, to talk about the line for this podcast for Exertis Almo.

Sharp NEC has announced a school aid program called Sharp NEC Star Student designed to help schools in the age of hybrid learning, according to a press release. The program provides discounted pricing on select products, including projectors and digital displays, along with extended warranties to reduce maintenance costs. The "Trade In, Trade Up" component is designed to allow schools to trade old equipment for newer, more eco-friendly models.

Sharp NEC Displays Solutions joins this week’s AV+ Podcast to discuss NaViSense, discussing computer vision and exploring data-centric AV.

Sharp's President and CEO, Mike Marusic discusses how he has enabled Sharp to continue garnering more share while ensuring dealer are able to grow amid product disruptions.

The company uses the liquid crystal layer of TVs and pro displays as part of a floppy film that presents an alternative to conventional fabric projection screens or glass films. Those transparent displays used for dynamic chiller fridge doors and hologram-ish set-ups are based around LCD layers illuminated by LED edge lighting. In this case, the screen is illuminated and content made visible by the bright light coming from a projector. The image gets formed inside that LCD layer, and the output goes to 4K.

Sharp has been working on a complete 8K ecosystem for over a decade – from the cameras to the displays. In Tokyo, it has a unique showroom with a range of partners to test and demonstrate the technology. The firm had also pioneered the use of 5G and claimed a world first when it used 5G to transmit 8K from the cameras to the control center at the French Open tennis in 2019.
